James Pickering joined us from the British School Kuwait. He qualified from the University of Manchester and the Royal Northern College of Music where he undertook the Joint Course earning a MusB, a GRNCM and two PPRNCMs in both Solo Performance and Chamber Music. He is a talented composer having written several published works, including a Clarinet Sonata and Suite for Tuba and Piano. As a conductor, he has directed various community orchestras and ensembles. As a Tuba Player James currently plays with the Lindenbaum Festival Orchestra and the Seoul Civic Philharmonic Orchestra and, whilst working in the U.K., the BBC Philharmonic and Halle Orchestra. He has won the Malcolm Arnold Prize for Chamber Music, achieved 2nd place overall in the International Tuba Conference Solo Competition and the European Conservatoires Chamber Music Competition.
