We were proud to partner with the British Chamber of Commerce in Korea (BCCK) to celebrate our 15th anniversary at their recent annual Garden Party. Dulwich College Seoul was represented in many wonderful ways by our team of staff, students and parents.

Ms Derbyshire addressed guests at the VIP reception and main event, celebrating the importance of community and global connections. Our students’ String Quartet opened the evening with a beautiful performance, followed by a full hour of live music from our exceptional Jazz Band that performed for nearly 400 guests.

“안녕하세요 (Good evening),” said Milva in Year 13 in perfect Korean. She spoke of our 15th anniversary campaign and how she believes that “together, we can make a more equitable and just world regardless of race, gender or religion.”

Vivaana in Year 4 confidently spoke about how her teacher had supported her in her aspiration to become “a spy, decoding programmes.”

Daoom in Year 10 walked over to the lectern to deliver his message thanking his teachers for helping him to harness his passion for performing arts while also pursuing academic excellence that is a core value at the College.

Rkhee in Year 6 delivered a perfect message in fluent Korean. While he’s only been at the College for two years, he said he felt like it’d been longer because the College welcomed him from his very first day and introduced him to friends who will surely become his friends for life. He reminded everyone about our simple and audacious motto of being the “kindest school in the universe.”

Aparjita in Year 9 spoke about small actions having a big impact collectively and urged the audience to “build a more sustainable world for all” by taking small actions such as reducing waste to save our planet.

Their eloquence and confidence held the audience in rapt attention, and it was especially moving to see their parents’ pride as they spoke about justice, equity, sustainability, and kindness.

Our booth was buzzing all evening with attendees stopping by for a chance to engage in decidedly British activities such as croquet, fun games such as a lively “Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader?” quiz, and a duck pond challenge with a grand prize. These games were met with great enthusiasm and created a memorable atmosphere, complete with Dulwich merchandise prizes and a generous hamper for the winners.

We extend our thanks to our Head of College, Alison Derbyshire, Ms Namju Cho (Director of Communications and External Relations), and Ms Helen Kim (Director of Admissions and Marketing). Special recognition goes to our String Quartet — Erin, Lumi, and Jayden (Year 8) and Sejun (Year 10), alongside our Year 11 Jazz Band: Doyoon, Harrison, Jaehyun, Lithum, Theo, and Woojin, as well as our student speakers — George (Year 2), Vivaana (Year 4), Rokhee (Year 6), Aparjita (Year 9), Daoom (Year 10), and Milva (Year 13) — and all staff volunteers who helped make the evening such a success. Finally, we thank the BCCK team for their partnership in hosting such a memorable event.
