Dulwich College Seoul String Quartet Wins Grand Prize Internationally

quartet-1676

We are delighted to share outstanding news from our Music Department.

The Dulwich College Seoul String Quartet has been awarded the Grand Prize in the Chamber Music category at the 2026 International New Artist Music Competition, an international event recognising young musicians performing at an exceptional standard.

The quartet is made up of:

  • Sejun P (Year 10) – Violin
  • Lumi L (Year 8) – Violin
  • Erin K (Year 8) – Viola
  • Jayden K (Year 8) – Cello

We are pleased to share this performance video and invite our community to enjoy and celebrate this remarkable accomplishment together.

Their achievement is the result of sustained commitment, collaboration, and musical discipline, developed through Chamber Music ECAs and recording work at the Alleyn Theatre. The performance demonstrates a level of ensemble awareness, maturity, and musical sensitivity well beyond their years.

Please see below for a student reflection and a message from our Director of Music.

Sejun P
I think that the best thing about a performance is the rewarding yet minor yearning that I feel after its closing; the many hours of practice come together to make an incredible show, with each meticulous comment and detail reflected as we synchronise together on the stage. However, once all is finished, one half of me already begins to miss the bygone piece while the other half of me feels the excitement to study another piece to come.

Mr Mark Knights
We are incredibly proud of Sejun, Lumi, Erin and Jayden, and delighted to see their dedication to music—both inside and beyond the classroom—recognised through this achievement. Their success is a wonderful reflection of the commitment and care they bring to their musical journeys each day. We are fortunate to work with such a talented community of young musicians, and I hope this inspires many more students to continue striving, performing, and celebrating future successes together.
