Last week, Year 10 and Year 11 IGCSE Drama students had a fantastic experience in Suzhou during the Worldwise Shakespeare Festival. It was the first time that the students and practitioners from the Royal Shakespeare Company attempted to create a whole performance in just five days.

This meant that the students needed to be professional, focused, and able to collaborate with students from different Dulwich schools across China and Singapore. The festival culminated in a performance in a huge theatre with an audience of 600 people. This kind of experience is not only unique but also full of authentic learning, learning that is very difficult to create in the regular school context.

The students received many compliments from other teachers and RSC practitioners about their performance skills and professional interaction with others. They were seen as polite, personable, and confident — true Worldwise living and the Dulwich Difference in action.
