Student Voices: Reflections on Sports Day 2025
Members of our Senior School Social Media ECA took on the role of reporters during this year’s Sports Day. Tasked with capturing the excitement and competitive spirit of the event, they shared their personal reflections on what made the day so memorable.
Exuan – Year 8
I think Senior School Sports Day this year was incredibly fun. All the events were competitive and exciting, and I loved cheering for my team and working with my teammates. There was a great variety of events, and they were all equally fun. There was even face painting and stickers to show our team spirit! Even though Shackleton didn’t win, we still tried our best and everyone did a great job. The results were surprising — overall, Sports Day was a blast!
Irene – Year 8
The Senior School Sports Day was so fun! I enjoyed all the events, especially limbo, and it was great to watch everyone and cheer them on. I represented Alleyn — and we won! All the Houses worked together and showed great sportsmanship. We also had events like the 400m, 100m, javelin, vertical jump, shot put, and speed bounce, plus house-colour face paint. Even though I was tired, it was the most fun I’d had in a while. The kimbap and snacks were perfect after a day of hard work. Overall, Sports Day was an amazing success — I’m already excited for next year!
Jun – Year 12
The 2025 Sports Day was packed with new challenges and entertainment, requiring teamwork and dedication to overcome. Congratulations to Alleyn for winning this year’s competition! In the end, it was everyone’s participation that made the event so special.
There were countless activities, such as the 400m sprint, that form the heart of Sports Day. The team events showed real courage and a healthy spirit of competition. What made this year especially exciting was the mentality — my peers and I were even doing exercises during break time, showing how fully immersed everyone was. The parents joined in for the long-distance race too, which showed true dedication.
Sports Day was truly amazing overall.

My personal favourite event was the limbo. It was such a fun challenge to test our flexibility — all the aches were worth it! I did limbo so hard that today I can’t laugh without my stomach muscles hurting.
The rest of the activities were great too — a day full of teamwork, courage, and physical exercise. The cool, sunny weather made the afternoon perfect for Sports Day, even though the morning was a bit chilly. What really caught me off guard was the parent participation near the end of the day. Seeing teachers join in was common, but parents were a rare sight in middle school!
Through their words and experiences, our Social Media ECA students remind us that Sports Day is about more than medals and results — it’s about community, courage, and the joy of shared experience. The ECA empowers students to become digital storytellers, capturing school life from their own perspective through writing, photography, and creative media — giving voice to the moments that make our Dulwich community so special.
