Royal Shakespeare Company Visit Primary School

Matt Costain from the RSC in Stratford, UK, visited Dulwich College Seoul last week.  Many of our senior students had worked with the company before but this time we decided it was the turn of the younger students. Students in Years 1 to 3 worked on the story of The Tempest, while Year 4 worked with Matt, a professional actor, on the skills they need for their upcoming performance.

The younger students explored the story and some of the language through physicality and play.  They showed why we believe that the performing arts are such an important part of our holistic curriculum here at the college.  The students demonstrated that they had great social and collaboration skills as they worked together on Shakespeare’s great play.

Matt Costain also worked with our teaching assistants and teaching staff to find ways to apply RSC Education rehearsal room approaches to the learning activities in the classrooms here at the College. We are excited about what we will achieve with the RSC when they visit again next year.
