Rajesh Kripalani

Head of Humanities

Originally from India, Rajesh brings nearly 30 years of international teaching and leadership experience across India, Indonesia, and China. He holds an MSc (Merit) and an Advanced Certificate in Educational Leadership and Strategic Management from the University of Leicester (UK), a B.Ed. from Delhi University, and a B.A. (Hons.) in English Literature with History and Sociology from Calcutta University. He began his career teaching English and History at private schools in India before moving to Indonesia, where he taught IGCSE and IB MYP English and Humanities and held leadership roles in MYP and DP. Since 2009, he has served in IB World Schools in China, teaching DP History, Global Politics, English Language & Literature, and TOK, while holding senior leadership roles such as Assistant Principal (Academic) and Diploma Programme Coordinator. An active member of the IB Educator Network (IBEN), he contributed as an Examiner, Workshop Leader, SVTM, and was Chair of the East China DPC Network (2022–2025). He is also a Fellow of the Facing History Leadership Academy (Boston), having led professional learning for educators in China. He enjoys walking, reading, researching local history, and photography. Of his children, one is a recent graduate while the other joins him at DCSL. His wife, also an IB educator, is PYP Coordinator at another school in the city.
