Reception Classroom Teacher

Raquel Pavia joins us from Newton College in Lima, Peru, where she was the Early Years Coordinator. In this role, she enhanced and oversaw the development of the English and Maths curriculum across the Early Years, integrating transdisciplinary and inquiry-based approaches while leading a team of Early Years teachers. She also spearheaded community action projects and facilitated parent and teacher workshops. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Child Development and Education from Miriam College in the Philippines and a Master's degree in Educational Leadership from Bowling Green State University in the USA. Raquel also holds certifications in Curriculum Leadership and as a Designated Safeguarding Lead. With 17 years of experience teaching children from Nursery to Year 1, Raquel has worked in international schools across the Philippines, Vietnam, the United States, and Peru, including roles as School Director and founding staff member. She is passionate about phonics, early reading, and multilingual learning, and her philosophy centres on play and inquiry. In her free time, Raquel enjoys running, cycling, boxing, rollerblading, and travelling. She and her husband, Matt, love cooking together and spending quality time with their dog, Shadow.
